Ashvale Wanderer
★★★★★ 4.5
Ashvale Wanderer is a small RPG that punches above its size. You play a traveller crossing a quiet, grey land, picking up companions and uncovering why the region went silent. The writing is understated, which is rare for mobile RPGs, and the dialogue never overstays its welcome.
Combat is turn-based and readable, with a timing bar you can nudge to squeeze out extra damage. Party building is flexible, and respeccing is cheap, so you are free to experiment. We appreciated that grinding is almost optional if you explore thoroughly.
It saves instantly and loads fast, which matters on a phone where you drop in and out. A few side quests fizzle out without much payoff, but the main thread stays strong the whole way through.
What we liked
- Readable turn-based combat with timing hits
- Low-friction party experimentation
- Instant saves built for short sessions
